Empowered Interviewing
The ultimate toolkit to ask better interview questions and know what you’re getting yourself into
Empowered Interviewing is the ultimate toolkit to help you interview your interviewer. Because instead of stammering out a mediocre question like, “what’s your work-life balance like?” at the end of an interview, we want to equip you with the tools to really ensure the role is a good 2-way fit.
Ready to take back some power and ensure that the role actually aligns with your values and needs?
You’re eager to land a role that finally lines up with your values, fitting you like a glove. You want something that checks all of your boxes.
The only problem is, you keep getting the wool pulled over your eyes by recruiters and hiring managers who seem to think their company hung the moon! And whether they’re simply looking at things with rose-colored glasses or they're more nefariously trying to mislead you because they need more butts in seats, it’s not great. 3 months into each new job you start to realize that this “exciting new opportunity” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Ouch.
There’s nothing like spending your time and energy going through the job search process, only to realize you took the wrong role 3 months in! You don’t want to be considered a job hopper if you look for something new, but you also feel kind of bamboozled, leaving you feeling pretty dang stuck.
Sound familiar?
Here’s the thing, chickadee, there’s likely 1 of 2 things happening here.
You’re either:
Asking poor interview questions simply because you don’t know how to ask anything better. You’ve Googled “questions to ask at the end of an interview”, but you’re left with generic Qs, which drive generic As. They’re not really tailored to yourself or your unique needs and values, so they don’t vet for the right things or give you much useful insight.
Suffering from what I call “thirsty career energy”. You know…like a “pick me” girl, but specific to your career? Thirsty career energy is when you forget that interviews are all about a 2-way fit, and you go in desperate to “prove yourself”. In fact, you want them to like you so badly that you end up shape-shifting yourself to try and be what they need you to be, regardless of whether it’s what you want.
…Or maybe both.
Instead of going into interviews with a list of mediocre questions like, “what’s your style as a manager?”, wouldn’t you love a virtual bullshit-detector? Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a way to truly vet a role and get a better idea of what it might be like in 3 month’s time?
It’s possible. And while we can’t ever guarantee we’ll know everything about a company at the interview stage, we can certainly know a hell of a lot more if you start shifting the way you build your questions (and the energy with which you ask those questions - no pick me girls here).
You can ask interview questions that serve as a virtual lie detector, getting to the heart of what a role is really like and whether it will be a good fit for your personal values in a shorter amount of time. You can discover how to ask the right questions that will help you uncover the true culture, values, and expectations of a company before you even start working there.
Imagine walking into your next interview with confidence, armed with a toolkit of targeted questions that will reveal the real insights you need to make an informed decision. No more taking a leap of faith and hoping for the best. With some help, you'll be emboldened to make strategic choices that align with your unique career aspirations…

I started Empowered Achievers to help high achievers build more values-aligned careers.
I feel so strongly about this work because I didn't always have a career I was passionate about. In 2014 I was working at an advertising agency in San Francisco with Google as my main client, churning out award-winning campaigns. Everything was amazing, until I realized over time that I had fallen into my role, and I just didn’t love it anymore. According to outward appearances, I was super successful. I was in a high powered career that oozed coolness. Everybody loves Mad Men, right? But despite all of that, it wasn’t fulfilling. And life is way too short to spend the majority of your time stuck in a career you don’t love. So in my determination to find what I did love, I started exploring. And over the next couple of years, everything changed for me…
Today, I work to empower others to clarify their career needs so that they can shift their role into alignment too. Because you deserve to build a life for you, friend.
I created this toolkit to help my clients sort through the noise. As someone who has interviewed many people, we were trained to ask better “lie detector” style questions to candidates. Since starting my coaching practice, though, I’ve realized that candidates should be using these kinds of questions back to companies as well! They should be asking specific and detailed questions based on their own set of needs in order to sort fact from fiction. Because you deserve to know what you’re getting into just as much as the company does.
Don’t get misled again. You deserve to know what you’re getting into, and to ensure any role you take is just as well suited to you as you are to them.
